Firework Safety Reminder from Your Local Neighbourhood teams
As we approach Bonfire Night, we want to remind everyone to celebrate responsibly and with care for others in our community.
Safety First - Only purchase fireworks from licensed retailers. - Always follow the instructions on each firework. - Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby in case of emergencies. - Never return to a lit firework — even if it appears to have failed. - Children should never handle fireworks. Sparklers can reach temperatures of 2,000°C — that's hotter than a blowtorch!
Consider Your Neighbours - Be mindful of the time — fireworks should not be set off after 11pm (midnight on Bonfire Night). - Let neighbours know if you're planning a display, especially those with pets, young children, or veterans who may be sensitive to loud noises. - Avoid setting off fireworks near homes, schools, or care facilities.
Protect Pets - Keep pets indoors and create a safe, quiet space for them. - Close windows and curtains to muffle the sound. - Play calming music or white noise to help soothe anxiety.
Illegal Use - Setting off fireworks in public places (streets, parks) is illegal and can result in fines. - Misuse of fireworks is dangerous and will be dealt with seriously. Let’s keep our celebrations joyful, safe, and respectful. Thank you for helping us protect our community.
